Director's Circle
At Burton Homestead just a few miles north of Nevada City, nestled into a woodland meadow along a historic pond is a seated gathering place that encourages the exchange of ideas and a reverence for nature. Burton Homestead was the 43 acre home of longtime resident Francis Burton, who left the land to Nevada County Land Trust for education and community in nature. Your generous donation will help realize this wish.  Each year, major donors meet at this site to celebrate what we have and what we hope to achieve together.

The Director's Circle recognizes donors of $1,000 or more during a single year to support the ongoing mission of Nevada County Land Trust and those have a leadership role in protecting our unique community for future generations.

Circle donors receive special benefits, recognition, and thanks including:

  1. Invitations to special "Treks through Time" for major donors
  2. Opportunities to visit lands placed in conservation easements
  3. Acknowledgement on the Nevada County Land Trust website www.NevadaCountyLandTrust.org
  4. Annual subscription to Land News
  5. Invitations to special events and VIP receptions including Stars at the Ridgetop benefit concert
  6. Knowing your gift saves the extraordinary landscapes that contribute to our quality of life, and that of future generations

"Ten Thousand Acres" Nevada County lands endowment
Escalating land values can make the sale of land for sub-division development a tempting alternative.  This is especially true for local farms and rangeland. Driving north on Highway 49 from Auburn, you can see for yourself how homes are filling the landscape. Nevada County Land Trust's ability to offer a conservation alternative to the sale or development of land is crucial to the future of our community.

So far, NCLT has helped place more than 6,000 acres of private land into conservation easements. A window of opportunity now exists to protect 4,000 more acres from development forever. Such an ambitious campaign will require the support of the entire Nevada County community.

We urgently need your help. Time is running out.

Contributions to the "Ten Thousand Acres"” Nevada County Lands Endowment are applied directly to the cost of moving land into conservation easements. These contributions enable NCLT to:

  1. Purchase conservation easements on the most threatened properties
  2. Set up stewardship funds to care for lands in easements in perpetuity
  3. Match state, federal, and other sources of public conservation funding
  4. Help preserve Nevada County's 150-year old heritage of family farming

For further information, contact Marty Coleman-Hunt at (530) 272-5994 or marty@nevadacountylandtrust.org.

Commemorative gifts
Your memorial and honorary gifts to NCLT commemorate the importance of significant people in your life.

Your gift creates a lasting tribute to friends and loved ones by helping to protect the beauty, character and diversity of Western Nevada County now and for future generations.

NCLT will promptly acknowledge your gift with a card to the person or family you ask us to notify, and will be noted in our quarterly publication, Land News. The amount of your gift will be confidential.

If you would like to make a memorial or honorary gift, please contact Marty Coleman-Hunt at (530) 272-5994 or marty@nevadacountylandtrust.org.

Workplace giving
Many employers give their employees the option to donate to charities directly from their paycheck, and many employers match the employee's donation amount. Ask your employer if you can donate to Nevada County Land Trust through a workplace giving program.

For help setting up a Workplace Giving program, contact Marty Coleman-Hunt at (530) 272-5994 or marty@nevadacountylandtrust.org.

Local Business Support
Among its many goals, Nevada County Land Trust is deeply committed to preserving the agricultural and open space lands so critical to the health of our economy. Local businesses can help protect the distinct identity of Nevada County for future generations by providing support through annual donations, in-kind goods and services, and event sponsorships.

Non-cash donations: Stocks and real property
Nevada County Land Trust gladly accepts donations such as stocks, mutual fund shares, real property, equipment, etc. As a rule, NCLT sells non-cash donations immediately upon receipt, and the proceeds are used for general operating support. Donated real property (land) may be retained by NCLT if it has high conservation values; otherwise it is sold to generate funds for other land preservation.

A gift of securities is fully tax-deductible at its market value at the time of your contribution. To make a gift of stock to the NCLT contact your financial services provider (including online providers) who can make a direct electronic transfer of your stock certificates to the account of Nevada County Land Trust.

As a community-based nonprofit, we're committed to operating as efficiently as possible and making the best use of all contributions. Please contact Marty Coleman-Hunt at marty@nevadacountylandtrust.org or call her at (530) 272-5994 if you can help provide any of the following items from our wish list.
