Join Nevada County Land Trust as we explore one of the more interesting geological sites in the area -
volcanic columnar basalt. Our Devil's Postpile is on a smaller sale (and much closer) than the National Monument near Mammoth. Afterwards we will visit the Saddleback Forest Service Lookout, which is manned throughout the summer and has a stunning 360 degree view. This will be an easy outing – but fascinating, nonetheless. We will carpool to the sites, approximately 55 miles away, with the last bits on uneven dirt roads.
